Huge Cassava Breed Harvested in Eziobodo, FUTO Host Community, Imo State
Eziobodo is known majorly as a farming and football community primarily. The Community is host to Federal University of Technology Owerri and is situated in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria.
Agriculture being the main stay of the community, cash crops like Cassava (for Garri) and Maize and major farm produce found in the locality.
The picture below depicts a recent harvest of Cassava breed called – Try and See (botanical name not sure at the time of writing). The farmers claim its maturity range is six months without fertilizer depending on how rich the soil is. Mr Akachukwu Nwachukwu and Mr Onyewuchi Anozie were recorded with their bountiful harvest as they celebrate together.
The principal root and tuber crops of the tropics are cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz), yam (Dioscorea spp.), sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.), potato (Solanum spp.) and edible aroids (Colocasia spp.
