Russia Offers 5,000 Fully Funded University Spots To Africa

Russia has allocated over 5,000 state-funded university places for African students this year after receiving more than 40,000 applications—double last year’s number.

Speaking in Moscow, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Russia’s state agency for international cooperation and cultural diplomacy, said most applicants are from Sudan, Guinea, Ghana, and Chad.

Moscow is also expanding educational projects in Egypt, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, and Ethiopia, and growing its network of “Russian Houses” in 14 African countries.

Officials say rising interest in Russian language courses is opening new opportunities for African students to study and work in Russia.
